Art Deco by the Sea Catalogue

£25.00

Art Deco by the Sea is an exhibition catalogue published to accompany an exhibition examining British coastal culture between the First and Second World Wars that was held at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts in 2020.

Beautifully illustrated, the book traces how the British seaside changed during a new age of mass tourism. It examines how coastal resorts developed, and how transport networks, by road, rail and sea, were modernised to meet the needs of the modern traveller.

The book celebrates iconic examples of Art Deco architecture, form hotels and apartment blocks to cinemas and lidos.
