These delicate claws have been cast from a female blackbird claw in oxidised sterling silver, and are attached to a 16-inch chain.

Part of the collection ‘Claws & Pearls’ by Kate Gilliland, an elegantly macabre collection in which each bird claw has a story to tell. One claw belonged to a female blackbird, found serenely still on a pavement in Leicester, another pair were left on the door mat as a gift from the neighbour’s cat. To memorialise these beautiful birds, the claws have been cast in precious metal.
