UEA Collection Print – Francois Morellet

£28.00

Lithograph | UEA/CE 03
French artist François Morellet was born in Cholet, France, in 1926. Self-taught, Morellet became a founder member of GRAV (Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel) from 1960 – 1968. Vera Molnár (also represented in the UEA Collection print series) was another member of GRAV. The group formed in opposition to ‘tachisme’, and focused on eliminating the intrinsic value of a work of art through mechanistic and kinetic serial production.

Morellet is a painter, engraver, sculptor and, increasingly since the 1960s, light and mixed media artist. Works by François Morellet in the UEA Collection include: Sphère-trame (1962), Lines f/or Blank P/ag/es (1991) and Untitled (20th century). The UEA Collection Editions are high quality, original prints by artists whose works are represented in, or have an affinity with, the University of East Anglia’s Collection of Abstract and Constructivist Art, Architecture and Design.
