Suffolk-based artist, Mary Webb was born in London in 1939. Webb studied at the University of Newcastle and Chelsea School of Art before teaching painting, first at Harrogate and then at Norwich School of Art between 1966 and 1990. Her first solo exhibition was in 1994 at the Martha Stevens Gallery, Suffolk.
Works by Mary Webb in the UEA Collection include Untitled Painting (1967), Homage to Sonia Delaunay (1967-1969), Untitled (1968), Fritton
(1971), Spring Colour Study No 11 (1993), Spring Colour Study No 13 (1994) and Red, White and Black (20th century). Mary Webb designed one of two Limited Edition screen print posters, commissioned especially for Constructed, a major exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre held between 1 July – 14 December 2008, showcasing work from the UEA Collection of Abstract and Constructivist Art, Architecture and Design.
