Three-dimensional drawing with artist Paul Patrick Fenner
Sunday 8 May
10am - 1pm
£12 | Materials will be provided
This session is for adults
This workshop will focus on the drawings made in the run-up to Picasso’s cubist ‘breakthrough’. We will examine the crucial influence during this period of art from outside the post-renaissance European tradition. We will draw from the African and Mesoamerican sculpture on display, as well as Picasso’s own drawings, developing these into free-standing cardboard sculptures in the studio.
This session is for adults. Materials provided. All welcome, no experience necessary.
About Paul Patrick Fenner
“My paintings usually involve people being together, in a kind of streetscape, or adrift on the edge of town. Other recurring motifs include puffer jackets, cars, undergrowth, trees and stones… For me the painting surface is a space of possibility in which things can happen, where what I am not converges with myself and where I can think in bodies and spaces. I also make drawings, prints, and more recently ceramic works.”
